Subject: Introducing Silicon Vision: Najdorf Style

Greetings, Friends

I'm putting together a reference guide on
the Sicilian Najdorf and I would greatly
value your insights on the matter.

The blog's premise is the illumination of
strategic pathways in the Najdorf via
human-guided computer analysis.

Please bear in mind that the site is still
under construction. Nonetheless, any
feedback you may have is most welcome.

Thank you all.

Understanding the Sicilian Najdorf

Swallowed Pride

She was $$$$ by the $$$$ scent of his
$$$$ and the $$$$ appeal of his $$$$, and
she lunged back unashamedly for $$$$.
Spitting $$$$ out, she ingurgitated—gagging
convulsively in the depths of her throat.

But it doesn't illuminate: it just enumerates.
Pages and pages of variations down to move twelve
or so. No analysis, no annotation, no sidelines,
no evaluation. The same diagrams printed again and again.
There's much more raw information about the Najdorf in
FREE-CHESS-E-BOOKS or in your favourite chess engine's
opening book. There's more instruction in Kassparov's book.

I hope this wasn't just a tragic waste of time and that you
learnt something while sitting in front of your computer
watching it analyze. Something more than

`After 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6
5.Nc3 a6 6.Be2 e5 7.Nf3 Be7, my computer will play
8.O-O, expecting 8... 0-0 9.Be3 Nbd7 10.a4 Qc7
11.a5 Nc5 12.Nd2 Qc6 13.Bg5 Be6' (Lord only knows
where to go from there or what would happen after
any other eighth move). Assuming you have learnt
something, why not blog about that?

Aiming To Please

“When you $$$$, make sure your $$$$ $$$$ me.
That’ll make me have $$$$ all over the place.”
“You’re the boss!” I enthusiastically agreed,
using my $$$$ hand to place the $$$$ in her $$$$.
The gesture’s significance did not escape her.
“Lots of times when I $$$$ I imagine a whole
audience of $$$$,” she said. “I can’t believe
this is really happening—we’re $$$$, you know that?”

"Pages and pages of variations down to move twelve or so.

You've totally failed to discern the site's structure. But I
guess that's YOUR problem. You also need to pay
attention: THE SITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

"There's much more raw information about the Najdorf in
NCO or in your favourite chess engine's opening book.
There's more instruction in Kassparov's book."

Not once I'm done with the blog. At that point, NCO or
King's book will have nothing on me! I'm going to show
you that no conventional book can beat a blog in terms
of quality and functionality. But why should I, when traffic
is steady and rising?

"I hope this wasn't just a tragic waste of time and that you learnt something while sitting in front of your computer watching it analyze. Something more than `After 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Be2 e5 7.Nf3 Be7, my computer will play 8.O-O, expecting 8... 0-0 9.Be3 Nbd7 10.a4 Qc7 11.a5 Nc5 12.Nd2 Qc6 13.Bg5 Be6' (Lord only knows where to go from there or what would happen after any other eighth

Don't bother hoping because it wasn't! Again, your interpretation of the blog is SO misguided I'm better off silent. I guess it's okay to pitch your acquaintances' stuff, or your own stuff for that matter, by bashing other people's.

Happy New Year!

It is a very nice looking site and the information
looks - at first glance - to be quite good as well.

I agree, it has an attractive appeal to it.
Nonetheless, I vehemently beg to differ with
your take on its content quality. As an
intermediate player, I definitely gained some
insights from it. I take it you're of greater
playing strength, which is why you seem to suggest
it's of dubious worth.

Anyway, the value of anything is ultimately in the
eye of the beholder.

Um... I think I did indicate it was of more than dubious worth.
In fact, I can't see how my statement would be interpreted otherwise.

A cursory assessment of the content shows it's as excellent as the
site's appearance, but, a more thorough one MAY reveal otherwise.

Have a great day.

Whoever the author of that is, he/she doesn't know
much about the Scandinavian, seems like some random
copying from an outdated opening book with some comments
added in, which are sometimes correct and sometimes fairly
random. There's hardly a logical structure to the text
and the information is often not to the point.

Well, I guess when GMs write about openings they don't know
and play, they get money and we get poor or mediocre opening
books, the same obviously holds to an extent for weaker
players writing about openings (whatever they actually get out
of it).

My dear Knunckle, even if each of your words was a billion
suns, I’d not see your point here! If you have nothing better
to say, why don't you whistle your favorite tune.
